Heather Ferbert Receives Lucile Curtis English Award

Picture
Heather Ferbert (Lambda Beta), San Diego Alumnae Chapter President, received the Lucile Curtis English Award at SCC Founders' Day January 31.  Lucile Curtis English (Lambda) was the founder and first President of Southern California Council of AOII (SCC) and was a Rose Award Recipient. Lucile's AOII Badge on a pendant is presented annually to an AOII in Southern California who has made a lifetime commitment to AOII, fosters beneficial cooperation and unity among the alumnae and collegiate chapters in our region, seeks to make the community more AOII-conscious, and works to increase the active participation of alumnae.  Heather has served as our AP since 2010.  Roses and Congratulations, Heather!

Volunteer Opportunity: Letters Needed for AOII Colony Members at University of Nevada Reno

Calling all AOIIs! This Spring AOII colonizes its first collegiate chapter in Nevada - at the University of Nevada, Reno. The Reno Tahoe AC wants to help the colony members understand AOII's global scope through an Alum Chum (alumnae) and Panda Pal (collegian) pen pal program. That's where YOU come in! UNR's campus total is 200+ which means we need A LOT of Alum Chums and Panda Pals!  To participate in this program, please write two letters and mail in a single envelope to: Jacie Tallon Peters at 2713 Pamela Place, Minden, NV 89423 by February 1. Please write "ALUM CHUM" if you are an alumna or "PANDA PAL" if you are a collegian on the back of the envelope. Both letters will be given to the same colony member at different points in the membership process.  The first letter will be given to a colony member at her first colony meeting. Welcome the new member to AOII and the colony. Introduce yourself, tell her where you live and what you do. Share why YOU choose AOII. If you would like your colony member to contact you, share your contact information as well.  The second letter will be given at the first chapter meeting following initiation/installation. Congratulate her on her initiation and the chapter's installation! Share a treasured AOII memory. Thanks for helping our newest members feel the Alpha love!

Team AOII San Diego Breaks Annual Fundraising Record for Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis

Picture
Congratulations to our San Diego Team AOII our record-breaking year fundraising for the Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis held December 13 in Balboa Park!  As of December 16 Team AOII San Diego raised $4,194 with more coming in each day.  Overall the San Diego event raised $154,288.  This one-day festive event is a great collaboration between the Arthritis Foundation and our local collegiate and alumnae chapters.  Our team size also grew to almost 60 people in 2014.  It is amazing what we accomplish together!  Team AOII National was the #3 team in the US!  Special congratulations to Jane Niemeier (Phi Upsilon) for placing Third in her Age Group!  That's our Jane pictured at right.
